You Kids Are Walking So Slowly!

April 8th, 2015

A few days ago my wife and I were walking around Torrey Pines State Reserve near San Diego, admiring some of the plants in a small garden.

An older gentleman who was part of the park’s staff saw us and exclaimed:

You kids are walking so slowly!

I took that as a compliment. Society seems so rushed sometimes. If time is fixed and valuable, wouldn’t you want to try to stretch your relative perception of it?

Edit: after thinking about it for some time (and reading some people’s opinion), I think that there’s no escaping the time trap. Either you make the most out of your life and time will fly by, or you bore yourself living it, which will make it go by very slowly. I’d much prefer to get the most out of my life!

Edit: I’d still slow down a bit admiring a beautiful garden though.

  1. Actually it’s time that’s relative. If you walk slow your whole life you might only see half as much as someone walking twice as fast!
